CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) – Wisconsin Agriculture Technology Days will be held next week in Chippewa County.
Preparations continue today at the Chippewa Valley Music Festival site near Cadott.
Since planning began in February, Wisconsin Farm Technology Days has had more than 500 volunteers help prepare the site.
“We need an army. It's like a farm. Farm families are big families,” said Cheryl Scheidler, volunteer coordinator.
We will be showcasing the latest agricultural machinery and preparing to network with farmers of all ages and genders.
“Farm Technology Day is all about supporting youth and agriculture. The remaining volunteers are selected from nonprofits across Chippewa County,” Scheidler said.
Farm Tech Days is not only a huge trade show, but also a place that brings the community together.
“This shows we are a family. This is about youth and agriculture and building a family on the farm. Bringing everyone together as volunteers in this family environment shows young people that it's important to give back to the community,” she said.
She encourages people to develop leadership skills to stay involved into adulthood.
“In the Midwest, agriculture has become very corporate now, but we want to continue to encourage the growth of agriculture and the growth of small family farms,” she said.
She added: “It's a massive event. It's been a lot of work and it's taken a year and a half to prepare. I think the site here is the perfect platform. We have a lot of exhibitors this year and it's the perfect environment to host a massive event.”
Wisconsin Agricultural Technology Days will be held August 13-15.
