AAL said the service would use Super B class vessels with a maximum lifting capacity of 700 tonnes and more than 5,000 square metres of deck space in fair weather.
According to AAL, this will give the company the cargo handling and acceptance capacity to handle any cargo, from oversized heavy units to small bulk cargoes, general cargo and even bulk cargo, on any voyage.
Commenting on the move, Eike Münz, General Manager of AAL Europe, said:
“We have listened to the market and are expanding our already popular premium multipurpose service with more tonnage and connections to meet the diverse needs of our customers. Our portfolio of three distinct monthly services offers our customers regular, reliable and flexible voyages between Europe and major trading markets around the world, benefiting from the inclusion of premium MPVs of all classes in AAL's fleet, including the new Super B class, which has already demonstrated its cargo-carrying capabilities by transporting 89,000 tonnes of mixed cargo from Asia to Europe in a single voyage.”
Jan Henrik Heiken, Senior Charter Manager at AAL Europe, added:
“The Europe-Asia express liner service will depart from key project cargo hubs in Western Europe and connect directly to ports such as Taichung, Shanghai and Masan which are being considered for attraction along the route.”
