– This is a draft law that was rejected by a few votes and caused a great political storm. Now we will return to it. I'm hearing from PSL that there's a good chance it won't go to waste and there's further work to be done. This means that the proposal to throw it in the trash can will not be accepted immediately, which will be important for the coalition on a symbolic level, said Agata Adamek.
– On Tuesday, the last round of negotiations and the final summary negotiations should be held, but I hear that there is a prospect that there will be voices in favor of continuing the process and not rejecting it. This is the option that is currently on the table – added Radomir Vit.
“It's a matter of voting and one hair,” said Agata Adamek.
On July 12, the Seimas did not accept the amendment to the Criminal Code, proposed by the Left Club, on the partial criminalization of abortion. At that time, there were not enough votes. In the second half of July, the project was presented again. It assumes, among others: the repeal of two articles of the article. Article 152 of the Criminal Code, which provides for termination of pregnancy with the consent of the woman in cases permitted by the law and for causing it to be imprisoned for 3 years.
In the Sejm, there is an extraordinary committee appointed to work on four bills related to abortion. The first project of the “Left” is about the decriminalization of actions related to drug addiction. There are also two projects (Left and KO) that introduce the possibility of abortion up to the 12th week at the request of the woman. The third way, in turn, proposes in its draft to return to the state until the Constitutional Court's ruling, that is, to restore the possibility of abortion in case of possible severe fetal defects.
