Households claiming certain advantages and in energy efficient properties are eligible (photo)
Hundreds of households in western Sussex have benefited from cash grants to help in the cost of living.
Adur & Worthing’s advice said they had written to more than 600 households demanding housing services or advice tax support and living in energy efficient properties, to offer £ 150 for essential invoices and items.
Until now, more than 400 households have successfully applied the subsidy, which was paid directly to bank accounts last week, the authorities said.
Adur’s advisor Sharon Sluman said that “innovative database technology” had been used to “target the support of some of the most vulnerable members of our community”.
The money for subsidies comes from the British shared prosperity fund of the government.
The advice said it was the second time that social workers have directly contacted residents to provide targeted financial support.
Last year, they wrote to 200 households not receiving the payment of winter fuel due to the fall just outside the eligibility criteria, to offer £ 200 supermarket vouchers.
Ms. Sluman, member of Adur’s office for communities and well -being, said: “We know that many people are already struggling with household invoices – something that will only increase with the increase in the price of the energy price in April.
“Using our innovative database technology, we were able to target support for some of the most vulnerable members in our community.”
Advisor Dom Ford, member of the Worthing cabinet for communities, culture and leisure, said that the Council was “in regular contact with residents to report them to programs that improve energy efficiency in the house or organizations that help them keep warm and reduce their energy bills”.
