IndiGo has allegedly offered a compensation of Rs 2,450 to a passenger who lost a bag containing items worth Rs 45,000. The bag also contained important documents like PAN card, driving licence and Aadhaar card.
Monik Sharma, a passenger from Assam, reported that the incident happened a month ago while flying from Kolkata to Guwahati. However, the incident came to prominence after his friend Ravi Handa, who was on Flight X, complained to IndiGo and asked the airline to resolve the issue. Handa also said in his post that an airline representative had contacted him and promised to look into the matter.
“The bag contained items worth Rs 45,000 along with important documents like driving licence, PAN, Aadhar etc. It was checked in at Kolkata airport but never reached Guwahati. How could it have vanished in mid-air? Did the bag leak from the plane? Nearly a month later, IndiGo returned offering a 'compensation' of Rs 2,450,” Handa wrote to X.
Sharing a picture of his boarding pass, he wrote, “This is ridiculous. The bag alone costs more than that. Apparently there is a rule that if a bag is lost, the airline is liable for a maximum of Rs 350 per kg. This is like rubbing salt in the wound. If anyone from IndiGo's social media team is reading this please help him out. Rs 2450 is not the solution.”
