Scientists warn that the eruption of a huge Alaska wild volcano could soon occur. It is located just 129 km from Anchorage, the largest city in the state city.
Alaska Volcanic Observatory has announced that Mount Spur has signs of new activity. On Wednesday, facility experts reported that “volcanic gas emissions had been measured to be significantly increased” during flights across the volcano.
It also emphasized that this is not yet certain, but that there is a high possibility of an eruption. This will happen in the coming months and even in weeks.

“A further increase in seismic activity, gas emissions and surface heating (according to the volcanic editor’s notes) is expected” – it was written in a statement issued by the observatory cited by the AP agency. It has been shown that more warnings are expected in the coming weeks in connection with increased activity.
Mount Spur Volcano measures 3374 with snow and ice. It is one of Alaska’s 53 volcanoes and has been active over the past 250 years. There are two ventilation holes, most likely to be linked to a potential future eruption.

The ventilation hole, located about 3 km south of the volcano’s summit, erupted several times in the last century. One of the eruptions took place in 1953, with three cases occurring in 1992. For peak holes, the last recorded exceeded 5,000. years ago.
The 1992 incident caused temporary airports to be closed at Anchorage and other nearby airports. The information provided by the AP indicates that similar difficulties should be expected if the script has been repeated for 33 years.
