With the kind authorization of Amazon
Test drone deliveries to America have seen Amazon deliver free items, such as soup cans, alleys.
Amazon chose Darlington as the first location in the United Kingdom to see packages delivered by drones.
He indicates that he will now start the initial flight planning process of his execution center on the outskirts of the city.
The online giant had previously promised that he would launch a drone delivery service by the end of 2024.
Civil Aviation Authority must still find rules on how commercial drones can be used safely for deliveries.
Amazon recognized that there was still a lot of work to do, but said that it was “ready and excited”.
“We have built safe and reliable drone delivery services elsewhere in the world in close relationship with the regulators and communities we serve, and we are working to do the same in the United Kingdom,” he said in A press release.
How Amazon uses drones to deliver sky
Amazon offers drone deliveries in a few American states.
The BBC had exclusive access to see the Air Service premium in action in the small Californian town of Lockeford.
Eligible customers were able to order small items and have them delivered in less than an hour, the drone capable of avoiding obstacles and finding a designated place to drop the packaging on the ground.
But there is still a long way to go before Amazon drones fly plots on Darlington.
Above all, he needs the authorization of the CAA to use the airspace.
Amazon was chosen by the regulator to participate in new tests to extend the use of drones in the United Kingdom.
It is one of the six organizations that are now testing flights without the operators needing to keep them physically, although Amazon has not revealed where it takes place.
In a press release, the CAA said it worked with companies to do drone operations beyond the visual vision line “a safe reality and every day”.
Why Darlington?
Teesside International Airport said its senior management and air traffic control had worked closely with Amazon in the last 18 months to provide advice and support.
Amazon also submits a planning request to the local council to build an area next to the warehouse so that flights take off and land.
The company’s execution center in Darlington is just a few kilometers from the city center, making it a practical location to reach customers.
The BBC understands that it seeks to fly within a radius of seven and a half miles excluding the neighboring airport.
But Amazon must persuade the residents of his plans.
He will organize a community event in Darlington next month to answer questions and collect comments.
