Congratulations to all who wish to celebrate on the day that former Raiders first-round draft picks are released. Today, Alex Leatherwood and Johnathan Abram received their release letters from the teams they were hoping to join.
Leatherwood was the Raiders' top pick in the 2021 draft. He was released after just one season with the Raiders. He played four games with the Bears in 2022 but hasn't played in an NFL game since. He joined the Browns' practice squad last season but was not reinstated. He signed with the Chargers this offseason and is now looking for work again.
Abram was the 27th overall pick in the 2019 draft. He was in his fourth season with the Raiders before being released midway through the season. He was drafted by the Packers but was released after two games, then signed with the Seahawks to finish the season. He played in nine games with the Saints last season.
Here are the Raiders' other five first-round picks from the past five years:
2023 DE Tyree Wilson — Raiders backup
2020 WR Henry Ruggs — Prison
2020 CB Damon Arnette — Out of the league
2019 DE Clelin Ferrell — 3rd NFL team (Washington)
2019 RB Josh Jacobs — Signed with Green Bay this offseason.
