On Saturday, an elevator collapsed in the resort of Astun in the Aragon region of Spain. According to local media, at least 30 people were injured. Intensive care is ongoing in the area.
A video of an elevator wheel falling to the ground appeared on the Internet. According to witnesses, a problem with the rope caused the wheel to snap, causing numerous skiers to fall from their chairs. About 80 people were strapped into the closed elevator seats.
Multiple emergency services were dispatched to the resort. Firefighters, rescuers and medical teams are working at the scene. Four helicopters and ten ambulances were used to transport the injured.
According to the latest reports of the authorities of Aragon region, 8 people are in serious condition and 9 people are in very serious condition.

The resort of Astun, popular mainly with Spanish skiers, was full of tourists at the time of the collapse. It is not known whether there are foreign citizens among the injured.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed his grief over the tragedy, writing on Platform X: “I am shocked by the news of this accident. All our support goes to the injured and their families.” The slope was closed during rescue and investigation operations.
