“It is clear that bad people dragged the president into this Olympic scandal. As soon as the president realized that he was replacing a respected and talented Olympic medalist who had been with the IOC for many years, he had no doubt that he would have made the right decision. ''' Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on the X website.
The head of government referred to reports that Andrzej Duda may become a member of the International Olympic Committee.
Earlier, Sports and Tourism Minister Swawomir Nitras spoke on the matter.
“Firstly, Andrzej Duda arranged the position of Radosław Pisiewicz. Now Pisiewicz wants to retaliate against Duda with a weaker style. All this is due to the talented Polish Olympian who is steadily building his international position. It is done at the expense of medalists. You, everyone, have a bad time, ”said the head of the ministry, attaching a photo to the entry.

Confusion over the International Olympic Committee
Currently, the representative of Poland in the IOC is Maja Włoszczowska, who has been working in the IOC Athletes' Commission since 2021, and on this basis she has the status of an IOC member. The last actual Polish IOC member was Irena Szewinska from 1998 until her death in 2018.
Previous IOC members include Prince Kazimierz Lubomirski (1922-30), Ignacy Matuszewski (1928-39), Stanisław Rupert (1931-46), Jerzy Roth (1948-61), There was Włodzimierz Reczek (1961-2004).
Andrzej Duda's second term ends in August. The first IOC session after this date, at which he could potentially be elected to the IOC membership, is scheduled for February 2026 in Milan, in time for the Winter Olympics. However, formally there are no obstacles to electing the current head of state. The general meeting will be held in Greece in March 2025, and the main topic of discussion will be the selection of Thomas Bach's successor as president.
The total number of IOC members cannot exceed 115, and currently stands at 111. All members are elected to eight-year renewable terms. IOC members elected between 1967 and 1999 can serve until the age of 80, and IOC members elected after 1999 until the age of 70.
