Jordan Chiles has been stripped of her gymnastics bronze medal, but the USOPC says it will appeal.
PARIS (AP) — The U.S. Olympic Committee said it will appeal U.S. gymnast Jordan Childs' request to return the bronze medal she won in the floor exercise at the Paris Olympics. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) invalidated an appeal by Childs' coach that elevated her to third place in the floor exercise, finding that the appeal exceeded the one-minute, four-second limit for the judges' review. The International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) said Saturday night it would respect the court's decision and move Barbos to third place. The International Olympic Committee confirmed the ruling on Sunday and said it would reallocate the bronze medal from last Monday's women's floor exercise final to Romania's Ana Barbos.
Who won at the box office this weekend? The Reynolds-Lively family
NEW YORK (AP) — In the box-office showdown between Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, both husband and wife triumphed. Reynolds' Marvel Studios hit “The Wolverine & Deadpool” held the top spot in North American theaters for a third straight week with $54.2 million in ticket sales, according to studio estimates Sunday. Globally, it's now surpassed $1 billion. But it was Lively's romantic drama “It Ends With Us,” which beat expectations with a $50 million debut. The pair were a kind of family “Babenheimer,” where two very different movies succeeded, thanks in part to competing programming. Except this time, the polar opposites star one of Hollywood's most famous couples.

Browns' plan to move to new dome falls apart as county backs city's renovation plan
CLEVELAND (AP) — The Browns' plan to leave their lakefront and build a new domed stadium in suburban Cleveland is facing a major obstacle. In a letter to team owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam, Cuyahoga County officials said they support a proposed $1.2 billion renovation of the team's current stadium and are committed to keeping the NFL franchise in downtown Cleveland “for generations to come.” Earlier this week, the team released renderings of a $2.4 billion state-of-the-art stadium and entertainment complex to be built in Brook Park, Ohio. County officials argue a new stadium “doesn't make financial sense” and are urging the Browns to renovate their current home, which opened in 1999. The city is providing $461 million for the renovation.

World Boxing President Boris van der Vorst told The Associated Press he was leaving Paris more confident that boxing could achieve “the biggest comeback in Olympic history.” World Boxing replaces the Russia-led International Boxing Association, which was kicked out of the Olympics. Boxing is not currently on the program for the 2028 Olympics, and the International Olympic Committee has repeatedly said the sport needs a new governing body.

Three German open water swimmers feel unwell after Olympic competition on the Seine
PARIS (AP) — Three German swimmers fell ill in the women's open water event at the Paris Olympics, but it's unclear if the Seine's long-polluted waters were to blame. A statement released Saturday by the German Olympic Sports Federation did not reveal the athletes' identities. But Leonie Beck took to social media to clarify her condition after placing ninth in the 10-kilometer race. She posted a photo on Instagram of herself giving a thumbs up but looking unwell. “I vomited nine times yesterday and also had diarrhea,” Beck wrote. In a statement, the German committee said three open water swimmers in total were ill, two women and one man.
