I regret that we have brought our country to such a situation, – said the Minister of Justice and Attorney General Adam Bodnar in “Facti po Factach” on TVN24. He mentioned the case of the former Deputy Minister of Justice, Marcin Romanovsky, who is wanted with an arrest warrant.
Former Deputy Minister of Justice and current MP of PiS, Marcin Romanovsky, has been wanted since Thursday with an arrest warrant. The Warsaw-Mokotow District Court decided to arrest the politician for three months as a suspect in the investigation of the Justice Fund. Since last Tuesday, the police have been looking for addresses where he could be in order to arrest the deputy. The Prosecutor's Office said that the PiS MP has not accessed the Internet since December 6 and does not use any number registered with his personal information.
Bartosz Lewandowski, Romanovsky's defense attorney, announced on Monday that he filed an appeal against the court's decision to arrest the PiS MP for three months.
Bodnar: What should Marshal Kholunia do in this situation?
When asked about the case on TVN24's “Facti po Factach” on Monday, Justice Minister and Attorney General Adam Bodnar admitted that he wondered if “he can comment on this in a crude way.” – I was even encouraged somewhere to turn to Mr. Romanovsky to surrender himself to the justice system, – he added.
– But what came to my mind is that as a minister, as a citizen, I just regret that we have a person who has performed a very serious task, and after a year of coming to the head of the government, we are at a stage where one should wonder where he (Romanovsky – ed.) is, where he is, where he escaped, where the courts decided to apply the former deputy minister to temporary arrest – he described.
– Besides, I thought of one thing: I checked the regulations. What should Marshal (Shimon) Kholunia do in this situation? In this situation, can he assume that Mr. Marcin Romanovsky is still a member of parliament? And if he is hidden, how can he fulfill his duty? It turns out that no decision has been made on this topic at all, because no one had predicted such a situation, – said the minister.
He admitted that “it is sad from the point of view that we have brought our country to this situation.”
When asked if he knew where Romanovsky was hiding, he replied that he had no such information.
