December begins on Sunday and with it meteorological winter. This means that more varieties of this season are inevitably approaching. We will welcome the calendar and astronomical changes in three weeks.
There are more signs of winter in the air and soon the next season will officially begin. This year we will meet the astronomical winter on December 21 at 10:00 and 19:00 in the morning.
Astronomical winter begins on the winter solstice. This is the moment when the Sun is at its zenith over the Tropic of Capricorn, the southernmost possible latitude in the Southern Hemisphere. The day on which the winter solstice falls is the shortest day of the year.
After one day, calendar winter will come. It will be Sunday, December 22. These types of seasons have specific dates.
Meteorological winter is the first
But earlier, on Sunday, December 1, meteorological winter will begin and continue until February 28.
The concept of meteorological seasons was proposed for the needs of meteorologists and climatologists. It always serves the same period for comparing statistical or climatic data.
