OpenAI is reportedly backing a California bill that would require technology companies to label artificial intelligence (AI)-generated content. In a letter to Rep. Buffy Wicks, the author of Assembly Bill (AB) 3211, the company said it believes transparency around AI-generated content is especially important in an election year, Reuters reported on Monday (August 26). “New technologies and standards can help people understand the origins of the content they find online and avoid confusing human-generated content with photorealistic AI-generated content,” OpenAI chief strategy officer Jason Kwon said in the letter. Monkeypox cases surge in New York City, Tompkins County Health Department issues warning and vaccine information
ITHACA, N.Y. — The Tompkins County Health Department issued a health alert Monday warning residents about an increase in cases of MPOX, formerly known as monkeypox, after 26 new cases were detected in New York state between July 7 and August 3. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the new strain and subsequent MPOX outbreak a global public health emergency on Aug. 14.
