Swedish Air Force spokeswoman Therese Akerstedt said in a statement that the NATO alliance's action was a success. Initially, Russian machines were monitored by Finnish F-18 (Hornet) aircraft over the Gulf of Finland. The mission was then taken over by the Dutch F-35 (Lightning II) fighter jets, which performed NATO air security missions.

After Russian Tu-22s and Su-27s reached international airspace near Gotland, Swedish Jas 39 Gripen fighter jets took over surveillance.
“There was no violation of (Swedish) airspace,” Akerstedt said.
As the spokesperson emphasized, the cooperation of NATO countries enabled combatants from each country to take over the mission smoothly.
