Garion Thorne reveals his best bets for Monday's MLB betting card at DraftKings Sportsbook.
So let's start with the bad news. It's Monday, and you're probably reading this at work. Sorry to hear that. But if you can make it through the day, there are 11 baseball games waiting for you tonight. That's a pretty good deal, I think.
Let’s break down some of the bets I’m keeping an eye on for tonight’s game.
Colorado Rockies vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
Brandon Fudd records the win (-110)
Unless you're parlaying, there's no way to bet on the Diamondbacks on the money line tonight, and the run line isn't all that appealing, either. So get creative.
Fatt is in the midst of a breakout season, building on last season's playoff success. In 23 starts, the second-year right-hander owns a 3.92 ERA, backed up by a 3.31 xERA and 3.56 FIP. He's also continued to perform well since June 30th, when he owns a 2.66 ERA and 2.64 FIP in seven starts. A big key to Fatt's dominance during this span has been the fact that he's only walked 3.2% of batters and allowed just 0.66 home runs per nine innings.
Still, the Fat can't win on their own. They need some early scoring help. Luckily, that won't be an issue on Monday. Arizona's offense is in great form right now. In August, they lead the Diamondbacks in batting average (.295), home runs (25), wOBA (.401) and wRC+ (160). Meanwhile, Cal Quantrill has a 7.52 ERA in his last seven games. Opponents have slashed .308/.395/.602 against the veteran right-hander since June 29. If this matchup seems like an underdog, that's because it is.

New York Yankees v Chicago White Sox
Luis Gil strikes out 6.5 or more batters (-125)
Let's take a moment to look back to May 18th. Do you remember what you were doing on that fateful day three months ago? No? Me neither. But what is true is that Luis Gil struck out 14 White Sox batters in six innings of work in the Bronx. Of course, there's no guarantee that will happen again tonight. The White Sox roster has certainly changed a bit, but seven strikeouts seems quite achievable for the Yankees' rookie right-hander.
Among pitchers with 100 innings in 2024, Gill's 28.5% strikeout rate is the 10th best. He has struck out at least seven opponents in three of his last five starts. As for Chicago, it would be hard to find a better opponent for this prop. The White Sox's 24.7% strikeout rate over the past two weeks, combined with their 35.4% chase rate, are the best in the American League. Importantly, Chicago is also last in walk rate (5.3%) over the past 14 days. Control is a red flag for Gill. Walking half the White Sox lineup and not using any dead balls would give him more time to strike out or strike out.
