Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company (BHSI), the insurance arm of Warren Buffett's global reinsurer/insurer, has appointed Kiran Prakash as head of first-party lines overseeing energy, construction and general property in Asia and promoted Jesse Yuen to head of energy in Asia.
Yuen replaces Min Ong, who has relocated to London as underwriting manager for energy properties for BHSI. Jess Au will continue as head of general property for Asia.
Prakash is a mechanical engineer by training and has around 20 years of experience in the industry.
Since 2015, he has served as BHSI's vice president of Engineering and Builders Risk, Asia, a role he will continue to hold alongside his new role.
Yuen has more than 20 years of first-party lines experience and joined BHSI as a real estate energy underwriter in 2019. In his new role, Yuen will oversee BHSI's real estate energy business in Asia, delivering solutions to power, mining and oil & gas clients across the region.
Commenting on the appointments, Marc Bruhl, Head of Asia and the Middle East for BHSI, said: “BHSI is experiencing significant profitable growth in Asia. Kiran, who is building and developing our construction business, and Jesse, who is strategically positioning our energy real estate portfolio in the market, have played pivotal roles in our expansion.”
Brühl continued, “Our success is due to the great work they have done in taking the BHSI story to market and building strong relationships.”
