Pope Francis appointed Ordinary and Bishop Bruce Rwandowsky of Providence Parish, which covers the entire state of Rhode Island.
The priest has been an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Baltimore for the past five years.

The hierarchy was born in Toledo, the American state of Ohio, the Latin family of Poland. His father, Robert Lewandowski, is from Poland.
When Bruce Lewandowsky received the Anglican sacrament in 2020, he said that he “beating in a Latin rhythm and smacking the heart of Poland.”

The bishop’s sister is also closely associated with the church. Mary Francis Lewandowski belongs to the congregation of the Felician Sisters.
The nun designed the Biscupi coat of arms for her brother. As she explained, the white and red colours contained there refer to the Polish roots of their family.
