A rare Black Moon will appear in the sky from Monday to Tuesday, for the first time since 2022. Although this phenomenon is completely invisible, it is worth looking at the sky tonight.
According to the EarthSky website, the Black New Moon will set on the night of Monday to Tuesday at 23:26 CET.
What is a black moon?
Black Moon is the common name for the second new moon in a calendar month. It happens on average every 29 months. The last time this phenomenon occurred was in April 2022, and the next December phenomenon will occur in August 2027. According to another definition, a “Black Moon” is a new moon that occurs at a certain time of the year.
Its “full” counterpart is the Blue Moon, which we can admire for the last time in August 2024.
Although we will not be able to see this phenomenon for obvious reasons, it is worth looking at the sky from Monday to Tuesday night. The new moon is a good opportunity for astronomical observations – if, of course, the weather permits.
