Nick Harris is back in Cleveland. The veteran center, who began his career with the Browns, was traded from Seattle to Cleveland in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick from the Seahawks and a 2026 seventh-round pick from Harris.
Harris, a fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, started four of 40 regular-season games in his first season with the Browns. He missed the entire 2022 regular season with a knee injury suffered during the preseason. Harris started two games before signing with Seattle last March.
Who won the trade? Let's find out.
Browns: A
It was a smart trade for Cleveland, who needed some center depth after Luke Weipler sustained an ankle injury in the team's preseason opener against the Packers. The Browns obviously understand the team's system and many of its offensive players in acquiring Harris, who should be able to acclimate at a much faster pace than most other players joining the team at this stage of training camp.
Seahawks: B+
It's good that Seattle got something for Harris instead of just letting him go. Harris was recently out of demand as Seattle signed veteran Connor Williams. The decision to trade Harris makes it clear that Seattle considers Williams' recent injury history to be a thing of the past. Seattle also has a backup in Olu Oluwatimi in case Williams experiences an injury setback.
