Italian Serie A club Cagliari are set to step up efforts to sign Super Eagles striker Kyriel Desserts from Celtic this summer, according to a report by Soccernet.ng.
Cagliari are in need of reinforcements after finishing 16th in the Italian top flight last season, with Peruvian striker Gianluca Lapadula, who has been with the club for the past two seasons, linked with a move to Serie B side Pisa this summer.
Although nothing has been decided yet, the 34-year-old is likely to leave this summer, with Cagliari keen to sign Nigerian striker Desers from Rangers in his place.
Recall that Soccernet.ng had previously reported on the link but transfer talks have cooled in recent weeks.
However, the latest reports out of Italy suggest that Cagliari are stepping up their efforts to sign Dessert.
The Nigerian striker has a proven scoring record, having been Ajax's top scorer in the UEFA Conference League three seasons ago with nine goals as they finished second in the competition.
Although he struggled at Cremonese two seasons ago, he managed 16 goals in 35 games, and his goalscoring record is not bad, so he could be a good addition if Cagliari are able to build a team around him.
Rangers are likely to demand a fee of around €6 million before letting him go.
