Cerabyte today announced the appointment of Steven Campbell as Chief Technology Officer. Steve, the former CTO of Hitachi Global Storage Technology (HGST) and Western Digital, will help productize Cerabyte's accessible, permanent data storage technology. As CTO, he will define the company's technology vision and execute on its leadership roadmap, integrating evolving customer needs.
“Steve's extensive experience managing large-scale global collaborative product development projects with industry leaders such as HGST and Intel in enterprise solid-state storage, and with Western Digital and IBM in high-performance hard disk drives, will be invaluable to Cerabyte's mission,” said Christian Pflaum, CEO of Cerabyte. “His experience and innovative vision are aligned with our mission to transform the data storage industry, and we are confident that his leadership will enable us to accelerate our product execution.”
Steve has an impressive track record of driving vision and innovation at multiple publicly-listed technology companies, having built and led multinational, cross-cultural teams across North America and Asia, as well as being an experienced investor, advisor and director in several early-stage US companies. As CTO of HGST, he revamped the company's global technology and product development organization and processes across six development hubs across the US and Japan.
Steve's appointment marks an important milestone for Cerabyte as it prepares to commercialize its ceramic data storage technology. Cerabyte recently introduced its ceramic data storage products to the US market as part of its mission to reinvent archival storage.
“I'm excited about the opportunity to work with Cerabyte's innovative technology and a passionate team dedicated to revolutionizing the way we manage and protect data,” said Steve Campbell. “Together we will push the boundaries of what's possible to deliver unparalleled solutions that will power the future of data storage.”
Throughout his career, Steve has played a pivotal role in shaping data storage technology, including driving the implementation of SMR (Shingled Magnetic Recording) and the development and launch of the first helium-filled hard drive. In addition to HGST and Western Digital Corporation, Steve served as CEO of Singapore-listed Magnecomp International Ltd, Thailand-listed Magnecomp Precision Technology, and InnoTek Limited.
