GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) – CHI Health Saint Francis is offering discounted cardiac testing on Saturday mornings as the hospital introduces a new program that allows CT scans to be tested with a calcium score, which looks at calcium in the arteries of the heart.
Participants will receive their results on the same day, Director of Cardiac, Respiratory and Surgical Services Angela McDermott said it's all about the community, and explained why calcium around the heart is a concern.
“When calcium starts to build up in the coronary arteries, it eventually narrows and blocks them completely, causing a heart attack,” McDermott says. “So if we can slow the progression of calcium buildup through diet, exercise, medications and lifestyle changes, we can slow the progression of heart disease.”
Cardiac testing will be done at St. Francis from 8 a.m. to noon. The discounted price is $175. To schedule your cardiac exam at the discounted price, call 308-398-5700.
