A team of Chinese scientists have discovered the new coronavirus in bats that can move from animals to humans. The virus, named HKU5-COV-2, uses the same human receptor as SARS-COV-2, which caused the Covid-19 pandemic. However, scientists have warned against exaggerating the threat.
The South China Morning Post informs that the study was managed by Szczynli, a Chinese virologist known for his research into bat coronavirus. Because of his professional activities, scientists are often referred to as “female bats.”
The latest discovery concerns coronavirus HKU5-COV-2, identified in a Hong Kong bat.

The new virus comes from the Merbecovirus dependent. This is a group of viruses, including those that cause Middle East respiratory syndrome (Mers -ed).
They discovered a new virus in bats. You can move to people
Research suggests that HKU5-COV-2 may be associated with the human receptor for angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE2), the same receptor used by SARS-COV-2 to infect human cells. It is shown that there is.
Simply put, the new coronavirus can migrate from animals to humans and infect people just like the Covid-19 virus.

HKU5-COV-2 can infect people, but scientists have warned that it will exaggerate the threat. They emphasize that the novel coronavirus is much stronger than SARS-COV-2 and the risk of widespread movement to people is low.
However, this does not mean that there is no risk at all. Researchers ensure that they continue to watch HKU5-COV-2.
