This new EV is powered exclusively by a 42.3 kWh battery and a 94 horsepower electric motor. With a range of 193 miles, the Nammi Box rivals the Citroen ë-C3. Despite this car's low starting price, the interior is surprisingly well-equipped.
China's Dongfeng Motor is expanding its lineup in Europe, and has just launched an attractive new entry-level EV to compete with the Citroën ë-C3 and other affordable electric models. The car, called Nammi Box, will be available initially in Switzerland, with prices starting at 21,990 Swiss francs (about 23,000 euros / $25,500).
The Nammi Box is based on the automaker's S3 platform and is powered by a compact 42.3 kWh battery pack, which drives a single 94-horsepower electric motor. Dongfeng sells the Nammi Box with a smaller 31.5 kWh battery in China, but has not mentioned bringing the pack to the Old Continent. There's no information on how fast the battery charges, but Dongfeng has confirmed that the car has a WLTP range of 193 miles (311 km).

Visually, the EV has an attractive look that should appeal to style-conscious European buyers. The front end features a simple lower grille section and two split headlights connected to a slim LED light bar. The door handles are flush with the body and deploy when needed, there are frameless windows, and you can even order a contrasting white roof.
Considering the car's lowest price, the interior appears well appointed. In front of the driver is a two-tone leather steering wheel and a small screen that displays important vehicle details. Like most new cars these days, a large infotainment screen is placed in the center of the dashboard, with two polished metal air vents below it. I particularly like the white quilted leather that runs down the door panels and the lower half of the dashboard, which I think adds a premium feel to the cabin.
A floating centre console with ample storage space and one wireless phone charger add to the cabin's practicality.
Initially, the Nammi Box model sold in Switzerland will be imported from China, but Dongfeng is in talks with the Italian government to open a factory in the country, which could allow the car to be manufactured locally and avoid hefty EU import tariffs.
