Not your ordinary paint and ship: Black Light Body & Canvas Painting
James Reynolds, who runs Not Your Average Paint and Sip, prides himself on hosting fun and educational painting parties, and this Friday will be no exception. Ninety percent of the class will be done under blacklight, exploring the medium of blacklight reactive paint on both the body and canvas. Germania Association Oktoberfest
If you're ready to lace up your lederhosen and get your Oktoberfest season underway, Germania Society has you covered. Cincinnati's original festival returns for its 53rd year with the largest selection of German beer in the tri-state area. It's a weekend of traditional German food, dancing, music, competitions, beer (obviously) and a new armored combat tournament. Admission is $5 and kids 12 and under are free. 2024 TQL Sand Volleyball Classic
During the TQL Classic, you can play volleyball on the sand and raise money for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cincinnati at the same time. Mixed teams of six to eight people can register and participate in the tournament for $150. Pool play begins at 10 a.m., followed by a single-elimination tournament. Taproom Record Fair
The Rheingeist Barroom will be transformed into a giant booze and record store on Saturday afternoon. Local stores like Plaid Room Records, Three Feathers and Hey Suburbia, as well as out-of-town vendors like Blind Rage and The Used Kids, will be selling all kinds of records. You'll also get to meet music producer and Monophonics frontman Kelly Finnigan, along with other producers from the Coalmine Records label. Keep an eye out for special edition Record Fair merch. Urban Thrive Festival
Hamilton County Great Parks is bringing nature to the city with the Urban Thrive Festival. People who don't have frequent access to natural spaces can take part in free activities like yoga, hikes and garden tours, as well as demonstrations on seed planting, fish filleting and canning. Exhibitors including Civic Garden Center, Mill Creek Alliance and Hamilton County Community Action Agency will also hand out information to attendees and provide resources to make their lives greener. Jungle Jim's Fire Weekend
If you like heat or spicy food, hurry over to Jungle Jim's in Fairfield for a weekend-long fun day of hot sauce and spicy food. There's something spicy everywhere you look, from hot sauce samples and build-your-own spicy Bloody Mary bars to heat-up battles and chili-eating contests. On Sunday, you can also check out the hot rides, as the Cincinnati Cool Car Club will be there to show off their cars. Tickets are $15, and there will be plenty of free drink stations to cool down. 2024 Festival of Faith
Cincinnati is a diverse city with people of many faiths. From its Catholic foundations to its historic Jewish community to the suburbs' growing Hindu and Muslim populations, people of all faiths come together to share and celebrate their commonalities and differences in a celebration of faith. Bonding activities like guided meditations, moderated conversations, panels and cultural demonstrations bring everyone together. Cincinnati Gay Agenda Launch Party
Everyone's favorite local queer event planner, Midwestern Lesbian, is launching Cincy Gay Agenda, the definitive queer event calendar in the city, and they're throwing a party to celebrate. From 1-3 p.m., there'll be a club and organization fair, featuring many of the city's great LGBTQIA+ groups. At 2 p.m., PH Dee will take to the stage to perform a family-friendly drag show. At 2:30 p.m., Hotmess Sports will host an open game of kickball. From 3-5 p.m., enjoy the after-party with food and drinks at Ziggy's.
