CMA CGM confirmed in a press release that the first commercial flight using its new Boeing 777-200F aircraft will be carried out by Atlas Air on August 25, 2024. The service will link Hong Kong with Chicago, with a technical stop in Anchorage. On the westbound leg, the aircraft will operate from Chicago to Hong Kong via Seoul.
Additionally, CMA CGM has confirmed it will receive a second Boeing 777-200F in the fourth quarter of 2024, which will also be deployed on trans-Pacific routes between mainland China and North America.
A third B777F will then be delivered in 2025, bringing the total number of B777Fs in CMA CGM's fleet to five. CMA CGM's other two Boeing 777-200Fs are based at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and serve routes between Europe and mainland China.
Damien Mazoudier, CEO of CMA CGM AIR CARGO, commented on the launch of the new service:
“The opening of this new route between Chicago and Hong Kong marks a strategic milestone in the development of CMA CGM AIR CARGO. We are very proud to be able to expand CMA CGM AIR CARGO's footprint to the United States, a strategic country for the Group. This opening is accompanied by the delivery of our third B777 freighter, a highly efficient long-haul aircraft that will enable us to serve our customers on new trans-Pacific routes and respond to dynamic market conditions. This new asset will also play an important role in contributing to improving the sustainability of air cargo, in line with the ambitions of the CMA CGM Group.”
