“Loretta's first grandchild, Betty Sue's daughter Lynn Massey, passed away this week after a long and difficult illness,” a post on Lynn's official Instagram page read. “Our family is so grateful for all the prayers and love that has been showered upon us.”
Taste of Country reported that Betty Sue died in 2013 at age 64 after a battle with emphysema.
Loretta Lynn's son, Ernest Lynn, has been battling kidney failure for much of this year and has not been feeling well at times, but in an update earlier this month, he gave fans some positive news.
Ernie's wife, Crystal Lynn, posted a video to Facebook that she took from the passenger seat as Ernie was driving down the road.
“I just wanted to let you all know that Ernie is doing well and that your prayers are working and we're so grateful to you all,” she said. “Check out how he's doing.”
“Thank you to everyone who prayed for me and showed me everything while I was in the hospital,” Ernie added. “I appreciate it.”
Ernie, 69, first revealed via Loretta's social media platforms in January that he was battling kidney failure and had to undergo “serious surgery.”
January was a tough month for Lynn, and things didn't go well at times, but she made a miraculous recovery and seemed to be on the mend over the next few months at home. She returned to the hospital in May and eventually underwent surgery, which Crystal shared on Facebook in a video.
“I just had heart surgery,” he said at the time. “Every day I'm getting a little better. Thank you all for praying for me. God bless you.”
