Fashion-wise, there's nothing better than a micro-trend you've loved for years suddenly popping up. I've always loved lace, and its period-chic vibe has made it a wardrobe staple (no wonder I've watched more Colin Firth episodes of Pride and Prejudice than anyone else on the planet). I love how lace's romantic vintage vibe can elevate any piece, making it feel elegant and sexy. Lace is delicate and very feminine, but also has depth. I always want to look closer and admire its unique intricacy. So I'm happy to see lace trim making waves right now, whether it's on skirt hems, dress sleeves, or sexy camisole necklines.
It goes without saying that street style figures are incorporating lace into their looks for Copenhagen Fashion Week SS25. Many are wearing all-lace skirts or trousers, tapping into the larger see-through or “nude” trend that has dominated both the runways and red carpets this year, but if that seems too daunting, pieces with lace detailing are a sophisticated compromise, calling back to the current popularity of negligee dresses and the '90s “wear your underwear as outerwear” vibe.
Lace trim is also becoming increasingly popular among celebrity style icons. Sienna Miller made waves at Chloé's Paris Fashion Week AW24 show (where Xemena Kamali brought bohemian back to life), rocking the designer's cream satin slip dress with a pointed lace hem, boxy leather jacket and chunky wooden wedge heels. The star then stunned at the Met Gala, again joining Kamali's Chloé crew in a ruffled lace minidress.

Meanwhile, in a recent Instagram photo, presenter Alexa Chung can be seen wearing a pastel green satin slip skirt with a contrasting white lace hem, teamed with a matching white lace bralette and olive cardigan. Clearly a fan of the trend, Alexa also wore a butter yellow Doon dress with lavish lace trim to Glastonbury this year.
But don't be fooled: the lace-trimmed trend isn't just for summer. In fact, we think it'll really come into its own in fall, where it feels like the perfect match for rougher biker boots, studded ballet flats, oversized knitwear, sturdy denim, and metallic accessories. If you're worried that lace is too “tidy,” try these “unexpected” styling clashes to get a little more playful.
Sure enough, lace is already trending on the high street, and if you're ready to say yes to lace, there's plenty to choose from. From Doen and J.Crew to Zara and M&S, here are some lace-trimmed items you can buy now…
