Heavy rains in Cyprus caused traffic disruptions. In the night from Thursday to Friday in the area of the city of Limassol there was a flood and a landslide, the consequences of which were cleaned up throughout the day. Forecasters are predicting more rain at the end of the week.
According to Kathimerini website, it rained heavily in the southern part of Cyprus during the night from Thursday to Friday. It rained in Limassol region, near the famous resort of the same name.
More dangers on the horizon
Heavy rains caused flooding. Near the city of Pareklisiya, water accumulated on the road, and cars had difficulty moving through the flooded streets. Water was not the only problem the drivers faced. A landslide occurred near the village of Alasa, and in many other places the roads were blocked by broken tree branches.
The weather calmed down a bit on Friday, allowing road crews to effectively clear the roads after the rains – in some places the cleanup lasted all day. However, there will be more clouds and more rain on Saturday. It is expected that the rain will intensify from Saturday night to Sunday, and snowfall is expected in the higher areas. The weather worsens and the wind is strong.
