Ending days, months and years of speculation, rock legends Oasis have announced that they will reunite for the first time since 2009 to perform reunion shows on a world tour next year.
Both Noel and Liam Gallagher shared the news of the Oasis Live 25 tour on their own social media sites, along with the official Oasis account, saying: “This is it. This is happening.”
Though the band is calling it a world tour, only shows in the UK and Ireland have been confirmed so far. As of now, the band is scheduled to play stadiums in Cardiff, London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin in July and August 2025. Tickets go on sale on Saturday, August 31.
The press release called these concerts the “domestic” legs of the tour, and excited fans further afield by promising that “plans are underway” to tour beyond Europe later in 2025.
In their first comments on the announcement, the band said: “The guns have fallen silent, the stars have aligned, the long wait is over, come see us, it won't be televised.”
The announcement comes after rumours that the band will headline Glastonbury Music Festival next year and play a series of concerts including 10 shows at Wembley Stadium in London and Etihad Stadium in Manchester.
The Gallagher brothers have not tried to dispel speculation that an Oasis reunion is imminent, hinting that a big announcement may be on the way.
The former frontman, lyricist and guitarist took to social media to whip up fan excitement over the possibility of Oasis touring in 2025.
The short video, made in the same font and style as the band's distinctive logo, was shared on the brothers' social media accounts, as well as the official Oasis account, on Sunday night (August 25).
The video shows a black sign reading “27.08.24” flashing before changing to “8am.”
The same footage hinting at Tuesday's date was projected on the main screen onstage at Liam's headlining Reading Festival on Sunday night, when he dedicated Oasis' song “Half the World Away” to his brother and Oasis' song “Cigarettes & Alcohol” to people who hate rock bands.
Rumours of a reunion have been swirling for the past year or so as a result of an apparent thaw in the strained relationship between Liam and Noel, whose feud led to a number of failed tours and led to Noel quitting the band after a backstage altercation in Paris in 2009.
