MOSCOW, Idaho – Vandal track and field newcomer Jesuie Doherty will represent her home country of Australia at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru.
Doherty was named U20 Australian National Long Jump Champion after a record-breaking performance in April 2023, clearing 7.25m to take first place and the title at the Australian U20 Championships. He has since competed at the 2024 Chemist Warehouse Australian Athletics Championships, where he recorded a new personal best of 7.57m.
Doherty has received numerous accolades for his success, including being named Hughes & Loveday Sports Person of the Year in 2022 and winning the St Peter's Jumping Trophy in 2023.
The 19-year-old is scheduled to compete in the long jump in the qualifying round on Thursday, August 29th, starting at 9:40 a.m. PST.
