US President Donald Trump has decided to extend the sanctions package to Russia’s Vladimir Putin. According to the Union Agency, Trump maintained special restrictions running from the time of his predecessor, Joe Biden’s term.
The document was sent to the US Federal Register and is entitled “Continuing the Emergency Relationship in Relation to Certain Harmful Foreign Activities of the Russian Federation.”

After the former president signed the document in April 2021, the emergency was announced in connection with “the fight against extraordinary threats to the national security, foreign policy and the US economy that create certain harmful foreign activities of the Russian Federation.”

Joe Biden’s statutes have been repeatedly updated to supplement new regulations, according to the agency. Nevertheless, the current power of the White House has also revised the document. The last change was made on April 10th, 2025.
“For this reason, the emergency announced by the 14024 enforcement order must remain applicable after April 15, 2025, as additional funds have been acquired under the Enforcement Rules 14066 and enforcement Ordinances 14039, 14068, 14071, 14114” – included in the new statute update.
