Until now, we have been used to living in a liberal world where international law is respected, now that time is coming to an end, said Jacek Czaputovic, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs in the PiS government, in “Fact po Factach” to the question of what? will change after the inauguration of President Donald Trump in the USA. The former secretary of state added that Trump “faces a worse situation” than when his previous term ends in 2020.
On Monday, January 20, Donald Trump will be sworn in as the President of the United States. According to Jacek Čaputović, the victory of the elected president changed the situation in the world. He cited the change of government in Germany, Canada and the recent agreement between Israel and Hamas as examples.
Trump ‘must accept the rules of the game’
– Now we are used to living in a liberal world where international law is observed. Now that time is running out, I think, – said the former minister of foreign affairs, referring to what changes, in his opinion, will take place after the inauguration of Donald Trump.
He assessed that the future president of the USA “is in a much worse situation than when he left office four years ago”. – He also has to accept the rules of the game developed here, and this is a big problem for him, – he added.

Chaputovic: Trump wants to rely on force
– The world seems to think that force is the main reason and to face (…) these opponents, who are very strong, Donald Trump also wants to rely more on force – said Čaputović. He also noted that after the agreement between Israel and Hamas, Trump “also wants to impose some kind of peace in Ukraine.”
However, the former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs assessed that for the Americans and Republicans, “Ukraine is not the first issue” and “they leave the responsibility for it to the Europeans.”
He also noted that the Americans may “press harder for Russia to have some kind of agreement, a line of demarcation” and that the Europeans, according to this strategy, “should look at it with their troops.”
