US President-elect Donald Trump met with Emmanuel Macron and Volodymyr Zelensky in Paris on Saturday. An official statement from the Elysée Palace indicates that politicians will hold a tripartite meeting. This is a surprise because such conversations were not expected before.
The incoming US president flew to Paris and met with French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday afternoon. Donald Trump stressed that he had a “great relationship” with Macron during his first term in office.

Shortly after, the Elysee Palace announced that President Trump would hold a tripartite meeting with Ukrainian and French President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and President Emmanuel Macron. After a while, the leaders were taking pictures.
This is an unprecedented situation, as separate meetings between Macron and Trump and Macron and Zelenskiy were previously announced. Until the last moment, the possibility of tripartite talks or a bilateral meeting between the Ukrainian leader and the US president-elect was not confirmed.
Trump and Zelensky arrived in the French capital to attend the inauguration of the rebuilt Notre Dame Cathedral. It will be the US president-elect's first overseas trip since the November election.
