Drake Maye will shoot from center for the Patriots, but don't expect him to score much, the Eagles will bring in some third-stringers on offense, and both teams will be good enough on defense to hold their own against the defense.

The NFL preseason kicks off this week with a matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots on Thursday night.
Neither team is fielding an A-offense, so we don’t expect either team to play at full strength in our Eagles vs. Patriots predictions and NFL picks for Thursday, August 15th.
Eagles vs Patriots predictions
My best bet
35.5 or lower (-105 on FanDuel)
My Analysis
I would bet the under on a total of 35.5, even though that number has increased by two points since the start of the season. I would bet this way because the quarterback could play poorly.
The Philadelphia Eagles will likely see plenty of action from Tanner McKee and Will Grier, but neither is likely to cause the New England Patriots any major problems.
Considering Jalen Hurts didn't even take the field during last year's preseason, it seems unlikely we'll see him again until the regular season, which leaves those two QBs and Kenny Pickett as options.
The former Steelers player had a stellar game against the Ravens, completing 14 of 22 passes with one touchdown and no interceptions. He is expected to miss this week, which may explain why the Eagles went from a three-point favorite to a 2.5-point deficit.
Grier didn't play much last week and McKie was just 6-of-16 in passing attempts, so it'll be tough for either quarterback to put up big numbers against the Patriots' No. 3 QB.
Meanwhile, Bailey Zappe handled the majority of the snaps for the Patriots in the season opener, completing 12 of 20 passes for 108 yards but not a touchdown pass. The lone touchdown through the air came from Joe Milton III, who finished 4 of 6 for 54 yards in limited playing time.
Jacoby Brissett will likely miss the game after attempting only three passes, but Drake Maye will likely try more this week. He barely saw the field last week, completing just 2 of 3 for 19 yards.
With an unproven quarterback likely to handle the majority of drives against two relatively good defenses, this should be a low scoring game, so bet the under at 35.5.
