SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (KABC) — Riverside County's Eastvale Little League team fell just short of making it to the World Series.
The team lost 2-1 in the West Regional Finals on Friday to Hawaii, which will now play in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Eastvale had one final chance in the bottom of the sixth, putting a runner on first with one out and forcing Hawaii to make a pitching change, but the comeback failed as the next two batters were out.
The game was a pitcher's duel and was tied 1-1 going into the top of the fifth inning, when Hawaii scored the winning run.
The match took place in San Bernardino.
Eastvale went 15-1 in four tournaments this summer, winning the 10-team Southern California Tournament and then losing in the opening round but winning its final seven games in the double-elimination tournament to qualify for the West Regional Tournament.
