Charlie Hull and Estelle Henseleitn have qualified through the LET Solheim Cup points list, while Celine Boutier, Maya Stark, Lynn Grant, Leona Maguire, Carlota Ciganda and Madeleine Sagstrom have qualified through the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings.
SCOTLAND, 25 August 2024 – Following the conclusion of the 2024 AIG Women’s Open, eight players have been confirmed to automatically feature on the 2024 European Solheim Cup Team.
England's Charlie Hull recorded seven top-five finishes in the LET in 2023 and 2024 and now tops the LET Solheim Cup points list with 203.50 points.
Hull made his Solheim Cup debut in 2013 and is competing in the prestigious tournament for the seventh time, collecting 13.5 points in 22 games.
Second place in the standings was taken by Germany's Estelle Henseleit, who will be the sixth German athlete to represent Europe and will be competing for the first time in the tournament.
Henseleitn earned herself an automatic qualifier place after coming second in the ISPS HANDA Women's Scottish Open with 179.82 points during the qualifying period.
“I'm very excited to be part of the Solheim Cup Europe team this year,” said Henseleitn. “Playing in the Solheim Cup has been my dream since I was a little girl, so being selected for the team is a dream come true.”
“I'm very excited. It's been a great summer for me and I can't wait to play for the European team at the Solheim Cup in September.”
Six players have qualified for Team Europe thanks to the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings, led by France's Celine Boutier.
This is Boutier's fourth consecutive Solheim Cup win since his debut at Gleneagles in 2019.
Swedish duo Maja Stark and Lynn Grant will be competing in the tournament for the second time after making their debut at Finca Cortesin in 2023.
Stark commented, “I'm really excited for the Solheim Cup. It will be my first time playing in the United States and I'm looking forward to seeing how different it will be and to seeing the small but mighty European fans cheering loudly. The course is amazing so it's going to be fun.”
“I'm very proud and it's a lot of fun,” Grant said. “I'm looking forward to playing in America. It's going to be very different.”
“It'll be a bigger stage, a bigger crowd. I think there'll be a lot of booing, but it'll be fun! Hopefully I can do well. It'll definitely be a challenge. I'm looking forward to having fun with the team and having a great week.”
Ireland's Leona Maguire has 7.5 points in the 10 games she has played, making her third consecutive appearance.
Meanwhile, it will be the seventh consecutive year for Spain's Carlota Ciganda, who made the putt that secured her defence of the European Cup in 2023.
The last player to qualify in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings was Sweden's Madeleine Sagstrom.
This will be Sagstrom's fourth appearance since making her Solheim Cup debut in 2017 and her third for the United States.
“Playing in the Solheim Cup means a lot and it's always a great honor to be entrusted with that role again,” Sagstrom said.
“I've played on American soil a few times and it's always challenging but a lot of fun. There are a lot of people here who are passionate about golf. I got to see the golf course earlier this year and it was beautiful. I think it suits a lot of our game.”
“It's a great honour to represent Europe. I'm happy with the way I played and I thought I played very well this year. I'm delighted to have earned one of the spots.”
Team captain Suzann Pettersen said: “Team Europe is currently in good form heading into the Solheim Cup in 2024. Congratulations to all eight athletes who have automatically qualified.”
“We have a lot of experience in the squad and it's also great to have Ester making her Solheim Cup debut this year. The European players have performed brilliantly this year and we're looking forward to September.”
Pettersen is due to confirm his squad and announce the four captains on Monday 26 August at 4pm BST, which will be broadcast live on Sky Sports News and streamed on the LET website here.
