The search for a woman who disappeared from central Coventry, England in 1972 took more than 50 years. Sheila Fox was discovered just last week in a completely different part of the country. This comes after police released her photo on social media. The 68-year-old British woman is safe.
Sheila Fox disappeared from her parents’ home in 1972 when she was just 16 years old. Media reported that she was believed to have had an affair with an older man and decided to move out without telling anyone. Her search for more than 50 years has not yielded any breakthroughs.

The case escalated last week when police released a photo of Fox. Photos of the teenager, Sheila, who was found, were published on the Uniform Service’s website and social media.
Within hours of the appeal, informants came forward and their information helped locate the now 68-year-old British woman. The woman lived in another part of the country.
A police spokesperson said: “We are pleased to announce that one of West Midlands Police’s longest running missing person investigations has come to an end,” adding that Sheila was safe.

Detective Inspector Jenna Shaw, quoted by The Independent, admitted that everyone was “absolutely delighted to have found Sheila after more than 50 years”.
Detective Shaw also highlighted the contributions of Detective Shawn Reeve, who was instrumental in solving the case. “Every missing person has a story and their families and friends have a right to know what happened to them,” she added.
