– It is good that Mateusz Morawiecki waived his immunity. The case can be considered faster in the prosecutor’s office and the accused can be dismissed faster, – said Deputy Minister of Justice Arkadiusz Mircea (KO) in “Kropka nad i”. Investigators want to file charges against the former prime minister in connection with the organization of envelope elections.
Deputy Speaker of the Seimas Piotr Zgorzelski (PSL-Trzesia Droga) and Deputy Minister of Justice Arkadiusz Mircea (Civil Alliance) explained the decision of former Prime Minister and current PiS MP Mateusz Morawiecki to revoke his immunity in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24. . Last Thursday, the Seimas received a request from the prosecutor’s office to disqualify Morawiecki in connection with the 2020 envelope election case. The former prime minister later announced that he would waive his immunity.
– It is clear that the opposition served Mr. Morawiecki, because he finally began to keep his words – said Myrcha. – It’s good that he left work. In the prosecutor’s office, the case will be considered even faster, and the indictment can be started sooner – added the deputy head of the Ministry of Justice.
– In the case of Mr. Morawiecki, the situation is even stronger, because the law was grossly violated when the administrative courts decided that the election was conducted by the Polish Post Office. Here, the prosecutor’s office has additional evidence, he said.
“Morawecki is now in the hands of the justice system”
Zgorcelsky said that “there are always two schools of thought”. – The first one, who says that even if the work is difficult, it is worth not giving up this immunity, because there is an opportunity to present one’s arguments before the public opinion and the Supreme Seimas. Some others claim that they will get justice faster by using shortcuts and give up this immunity and refrain from voting, which – if they are opposition representatives – knows what the consequences will be – he explained.
According to him, “there is no doubt that the parties forming the democratic government know how to vote.”
“That’s why Prime Minister Moravetskyi is now under the control of the justice system,” added the Deputy Speaker of the Seimas.
When asked who, besides Morawiecki, should be responsible for the re-election, Zgorcelsky answered that the current PiS deputy Jacek Sasin, who was the Minister of State Goods at that time. He noted that his name was mentioned in the report of the investigative committee on envelope elections.
