ETSU Health Surgery is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Andrew Trecartin as a new surgeon to its pediatric surgery team.
Dr. Trecartin joins ETSU Health’s Dr. Brad Feltis, Dr. Leslie Taylor and Dr. Michael Allhouse to form a powerful team for pediatric surgical care unique to rural areas like the Appalachian Plateau.
This talented surgical team provides an enhanced surgical program and trauma care for children at Niswonger Children's Hospital. They are highly qualified in the areas of pediatric trauma care, pediatric general surgery, fetal surgery and pediatric urology. ETSU Health pediatric surgeons are board-certified and specialty trained to operate on children of all ages and provide the best possible outcomes for local families.
“I treat each patient with the utmost care and strive to give them the best possible outcome,” said Dr. Trecartin. “As a pediatric surgeon, I care for the smallest and most vulnerable patients, and the most rewarding part of my job is seeing children recover from their illnesses and play and have fun being kids again.”
In addition to his distinguished fellowship training in pediatric surgery at the University of Colorado, he completed a fellowship in pediatric surgical research at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, California, and a fellowship in pediatric colorectal surgery at Children's Hospital Colorado. Dr. Trecartin completed his residency in general surgery at Guthrie/Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania, and earned his MD from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California.
Dr. Trecartin not only has impressive credentials and experience, but also a heart for service to others. He has chosen to join ETSU Health in its mission to serve underserved communities both locally and globally. As a faculty member in the Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University, Dr. Trecartin will serve in Chad, Africa, where he will help develop a program to train surgeons and fellows in an area with extremely limited access to surgical care.
