He was quite possibly the most attractive single man in the world and I dated him.
Artist Martin Grod has been distributing flyers in cities including New York, Ibiza, Zurich and Vienna reading “Looking for the perfect woman.”
The poster, which features a black-and-white photograph of the 30-year-old artist's handsome face, received an astounding 5,000 responses from women around the world, with 400 responses in New York City alone.

“I am seriously looking for a girlfriend. No joke. I am tired of single life and want to find a suitable partner,” the flyer reads.
“I work and travel a lot, so it's not that easy to date and manage girls,” Grod confides to me over a non-alcoholic orange cocktail at Excuse My French, a tapas bar on the Lower East Side.
Despite having thousands of fans, the 6'1″ Polish-born, Austria-based artist has only gone on three dates in the roughly three months since the campaign began.
“All the dates were very fun and relaxed. I asked the girls to show me cool places in their cities and it was like a private tour. Everyone was so fun and cool,” he recalled in his thick German accent.
The dinner date in Berlin is what piqued Grodd's interest the most.
“I found[her]energy and vibe really interesting and inspiring, especially since we both work in the creative industry and are self-employed,” he said, but added that there was no particular spark between them and they have no plans to meet up again.
Despite having thousands of fans, Grodd has only had three dates since the start of his campaign.
The flyers have a QR code that, when scanned, takes fans to a web page where they can “ask for a date.”
The app asks you things like your name, the city you live in, your age, your occupation, and what kind of first date you'd like to have.
Dressed in muted slacks, a casual floral button-down shirt, green heart-shaped sunglasses, a baseball cap and with the words “money, self-respect, fame” crossed out on his head, leaving only the word “man,” Grodd looked like the perfect gentleman.
During the date, Grodd wore neutral slacks, a casual floral button-down shirt, green heart-shaped sunglasses, and a baseball cap.
“Tell me your story,” he says with a grin as we sit down for our 7pm reservation, having arrived six minutes early, a walk from the Moxy hotel, where he's staying for a weekend spent touring art galleries around New York.
During our hour-long date, Grodd gently inquired about my appetite, opened the door and offered to take the bill.
He kept a respectful, if not cautious, distance, mindful that I had a boyfriend.
He explained that he had been single for a year after breaking up with a green-eyed, dark-haired Austrian woman after two years of dating because it was “too serious at the time.”

“We started living together and we got a dog. We were like a family. But there were just too many things as a family, like having to be at home every day with the dog,” he explained.
But now he's ready to settle down.
“I thought (the flyers) would be a fun and interesting way to find a girlfriend… and this could potentially lead to friendships and new acquaintances from other cities,” he said.

Grod said he was looking forward to a date in Vienna this weekend with a woman who had applied in response to a flyer.
His ideal woman doesn't have to look a certain way or be from a certain country, but she could very well be an American woman.
“In America, we think the cowgirl look is very sexy.”

After all, his “ideal woman” should be “smart, ambitious and funny.”
“Hopefully, I'll meet the perfect woman who's really cool and who I get along with, and we'll get married in a year or so and have two kids,” he said.
I wish you the best in your search for Grodd, but I'm going to stay with my boyfriend.
