Finland is considering introducing a new ban. It’s about purchasing real estate
The Finnish government wants to ban the purchase of real estate for citizens of the country that strives to do so. Such laws would effectively limit transactions in the Finnish real estate market. Russian Citizens – The bill does not explicitly list this country. Helsinki also came up with a way to prevent Russians from acquiring real estate using so-called Paul.
The Helsinki government’s proposal envisages banning people from countries that “leave the war of aggression and constitute a potential threat to Finland’s national security.” The minister there has not hidden it as being particularly relevant to Russian citizens. It has been fully attacking Ukraine for almost three years.

– The government has just submitted a request in Parliament to introduce a statutory ban on the Russian real estate market – Finnish Defense Minister Antti Hakkanen told journalists that the office was “the state and the Finnish people.”

The new draft regulations did not directly address Russia, but the security department officials behind it clearly stated Hakkanen, meaning “Russia, Russian citizens, businesses.”
Crossing Russia’s border, Finland cited threats to national security last year by Russian citizens and businesses, blocking the acquisition of several real estate by Russian citizens and businesses. According to Hakkanen, the law prevents the use of real estate for “large hostile effects” such as intelligence and potential sabotage.
However, the restrictions do not apply to those with a Finnish permanent residence permit or a Finland-issued European Union long-term residence permit. To prevent fictitious buyers from celebrating, the project includes provisions regarding the requirements for obtaining permission. The Finnish Parliament will vote for the act in the spring.
