Many forestry regions of the country sell fir trees before Christmas, and in some of them you can cut them yourself. According to the state forest, the prices are on average from 40 PLN to 130 PLN. They depend on the region of Poland, the type and height of the Christmas tree we want to buy.
According to information from the forestry department, although in some forest districts they have already started selling Christmas trees, the vigorous campaign will start from the middle of December. As explained, the LP units that sell Christmas trees do not take such trees “in stock” and each time they have a specific limit of their sales, which is the result of the availability of one type of this or that area. The data provided by the foresters show that this year, if we decide to buy a Christmas tree from the state forests, we will pay an average of PLN 40 to PLN 130 per tree. The price depends on the region of the country, as well as on the type and height of the Christmas tree.
Cheaper from foresters than private companies or supermarkets
For example, in the forest areas of the Gdańsk Regional Directorate of Forestry, the average price of a spruce is 40 TINs and a spruce is 80 TINs. In forest areas in Katowice RDSF territory, on average we pay PLN 53 per spruce and PLN 65 per spruce. Buyers in northwestern Poland, in areas managed by RDSF in Szczecin, RDLP in Szczecin and RDLP in Pila, can expect similar prices. In turn, in the central part of the country, in the forest districts of the State Forestry Directorate of Warsaw, a Christmas tree 2-3 meters high is about PLN 40-50. The most expensive trees are up to 5 m high – then you have to pay PLN 120-130. Spruce, fir, pine and fir branches can be purchased directly from foresters. As explained, the height of Christmas trees sold varies and depends on the availability of trees in a certain region of the country. It was added that in some forest districts tall trees with a height of more than 5 or 6 meters are sold, and their prices are correspondingly higher. Foresters also say that the Christmas trees they sell are often cheaper than those offered by private companies or supermarket chains, especially in big cities.
Forest districts set their own prices
State forestry institutions noted that each forest district independently sets the selling price of Christmas trees, and information about this can be found on websites and social networks. There you can also find information about the location and hours of the sale. Sometimes these are special residences of foresters, places near Christmas trees, headquarters of forest districts or points of cities. Consumers who want to buy Christmas trees directly from foresters should contact this forest area and organize Christmas tree collection. The state foresters informed that in some forest districts, the “Christmas tree picking” campaign is also being conducted. This means that with the support of foresters, you can cut the selected tree yourself in the plantation. This action is carried out by LP units, including: from the RDLP district in Wrocław, as well as the Gdańsk Forest District.
