A 22-year-old man shot five people in northern France on Saturday before surrendering to police. The massacre took place in two communes near Dunkirk, Wormhout and Lun Plage. Local media reports that the victims of this incident are Kurdish immigrants and two security guards.
At around 17:00 local time on Saturday, a 22-year-old man reported the incident to the police station in Givelde in northern France. He said he shot a 29-year-old man two hours earlier in the commune of Wormhut and then killed four others near the Loon Plage refugee camp.
According to local media, after shooting the first victim, the killer got into a car and drove to the industrial area of Lun-Plage commune. There, near the road, he met two refugees from the Kurds, whom he also shot. A moment later, he shot two security guards of the industrial complex. They died at the scene, the local newspaper “La Voix du Nord” reports.

– he suddenly took out a gun. At first we thought he was shooting in the air, but then he loaded his gun and pointed it at us, a Kurdish migrant who witnessed the attack told Sky News. – We saw Azrael (the angel of death in Islam – ed.). We were looking into the eyes of death, he added.
According to local media, the attacker is probably a French citizen from Dunkirk.
According to Sky News, the killed migrants were Kurds named Hamid and Hadi who were trying to cross the English Channel on Saturday.
“I don't understand how this happened”
The prosecutor's office is conducting an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the incident. No additional information has been provided yet.
The mayors of Lune-Plage and Wormhout told “La Voix du Nord” that they were shocked by Saturday's events and did not understand the motive for the murder. “I can't understand how it happened,” admitted Wormhout mayor David Kalkohen.
