The Chadeckie portion of the CDU/CSU and the Social Democrat SPD have reached an agreement on the creation of a new German government. Party leaders – Friedrich Merz (CDU), Marx Soder (CSU), Lars Klingbail and Saskia Eken (SPD) presented a coalition agreement in Berlin on Wednesday.

“There’s a huge, tough job behind us, but there’s a solid plan ahead of us,” said the future Prime Minister Mertz. He added that the negotiated agreement is a clear signal that “Germany can act and a dynamic government can do it.” The Polish press initially stated that the contract between the parties was “concluded” – later revised this information and gave a message about “accepting” the contract.
– Future Unions will reform and invest in maintaining Germany’s stability, providing more security to them and strengthening them economically. Europe can count on Germany as well – Mertz said.

The coalition talks began on March 13th, three weeks after the early election of hosts. Previously, in the preliminary conversations, CDU/CSU and SPD, they agreed to an 11-page document on key issues, including a special fund of 500 billion euros for investment in infrastructure.
The condition for the creation of a Union government is the approval of contracts by SPD members in a party referendum. In the case of the CDU, the decision belongs to the small party assembly, and in the CSU, party-controlled consent is sufficient. As reported on the RND portal, Merz could be elected on May 7th and sworn as Prime Minister. His office could be appointed on the same day.
