On Saturday afternoon, a bus accident occurred in Brandenburg, on the A11 highway towards Szczecin. In this incident, two people were killed and 11 people, including four others, were injured. The local portal rbb reports that the dead were a 29-year-old woman from an Eastern European country and a 48-year-old German.
“The bus driver is probably a Polish woman who was driving at an inappropriate speed during heavy snowfall,” a German police spokesman said, citing the website of local radio station Radio Berlin Brandenburg. The media reports that the bus has Szczecin license plates. No other vehicle was involved in the accident.
Two people died
According to preliminary findings, on Saturday, around 3:00 p.m., a bus traveling from Berlin to Szczecin skidded off the Ukermark highway intersection, hit a barrier, and fell on its side.
Two people died in this accident – a 29-year-old woman, probably from one of the Eastern European countries, and a 48-year-old man from Germany. 11 people were injured, four of them seriously. The injured were taken to the hospital.
According to Flixbus and the fire service, there were 13 passengers and the driver on the bus.
“Our thoughts are with all those affected by this accident and their families,” said a Flixbus representative. He added that the exact circumstances of the accident are still unknown. “We are, of course, closely cooperating with the local authorities and emergency services at the scene and will do everything we can to quickly and fully clarify the causes of the accident,” he added.
The accident was first reported by the local German newspaper “Maerkische Allgemeine”.
Emergency services are on the scene. Their activity caused a traffic jam on the A11 highway.
