A mysterious drone of unknown origin has been spotted over the American military base in Ramstein. Drones have appeared several times in recent weeks, Der Spiegel magazine reported on Friday, citing a secret German security report. It was also witnessed at important industrial locations.
Especially many observations were recorded on December 3rd and 4th.

“According to a confidential report of German security services, on the evening of December 3rd and 4th, numerous observations by drones were carried out over a large area of American military presence in Europe. ”, the portal wrote.

German intelligence chiefs have warned that Germany's support for Ukraine in its war with Russia has made it a target for sabotage. The magazine also reported sightings of unexplained drones over land owned by German weapons manufacturer Rheinmetall and chemical company BASF.
“The safety of BASF facilities is our top priority. Therefore, we constantly monitor suspicious activity and work closely with relevant security authorities,” a BASF spokesperson said in a statement.
Possibility of sabotage
Since the beginning of the war, Rheinmetall has mainly focused on supporting Ukraine. The company calls itself “the most important partner of the Ukrainian defense industry in the fight against Russian aggression.”
The company participates in: It produces artillery shells and Lynx infantry fighting vehicles, trains Ukrainian specialists in the maintenance and repair of combat vehicles, and supports the establishment of production and maintenance centers in Ukraine.

The incident at Ramstein was confirmed by a spokesperson for the US military base. “In early December, several sightings of small unmanned flying systems were reported in the area and over Ramstein Air Base. They did not affect the population of the base or the military facilities and equipment located there.”
A spokesperson confirmed that the base is currently “cooperating closely” with German authorities regarding the incident.
