On Monday, the Bundestag passed a vote of confidence in Prime Minister Olaf Scholz's government. I didn't have enough support.
349 MPs rejected the motion for a vote of confidence, and 207 supported the Prime Minister. 116 MPs abstained from voting.

Olaf Scholz has announced that he will immediately request German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to dissolve the Bundestag. Heads of state have until January 6 to make a decision.

Mr. Steinmeier had already indicated that he was prepared to end his parliamentary term early. The early election is scheduled to be held on February 23, seven months earlier than originally scheduled.
According to opinion polls conducted in November after the coalition government collapsed, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) is most likely to win. This showed that the CDU/CSU union could hope for 32.5%. Support in elections. This was followed by the far-right AfD (19.5%). Scholz's party's approval rating remains at 15.5%. The Green Party had 11.5%.
