Marta Krzyńska, Inter: The champagne corks were popped today, but aren't you happy with another year of Coalition activity?
Miłosz Motyka PSL Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment: – I have no complaints. The greatest value is that there will be genuine dialogue between the political parties that make up the government.
Rather, it's a real sense of tension.
– Differences of opinion are normal in a democratic government.
And aren't these differences tiring?
– No. Differences of opinion and conflicting positions often lead to better solutions coming out of our hands. They concern entrepreneurs, Polish families, investments, security and the economy. We have had clear success in this regard.
– Record budgets for armaments, implementation of large-scale investment projects, unblocking of KPOs and support for entrepreneurs. Lower health insurance premiums, leave from ZUS, stop the unrestricted influx of agricultural products from Ukraine, increase social pensions, shorten procedures for investing in renewable energy and introduce an “active parent” program.
There are also record deficits.
– These are funds that will be returned to the Polish economy. They go to investments such as nuclear power plants, CPK, high-speed rail. This is an investment in Poland.
We deliver on our promises. There are salary increases for teachers and the public sector, widow pensions, reinstatement of tariffs on some agricultural products from Ukraine, implementation of the “East Shield” program, lifting of the blockade of the KPO, and implementation of a high investment program. -Construction of high-speed railways, CPK, nuclear power plants
~ Miłosz Motyka
Experts point out that CIT tax collection is insufficient. Maybe there is a problem here?
– It is rather about the debts incurred by our predecessors. During the PiS era, funds were not used in a transparent and rational manner. Funding for the energy transition has dried up. Not to mention the disgrace with KPO.
Voter surveys show that the pace of delivering on promises leaves much to be desired. Aren’t you afraid of their wrath, especially in such a sensitive moment?
– Of course, there are also issues raised by voters that should be accelerated, such as the accountability of PiS politicians.
And what could prevent this?
– This stems from Minister Bodnar's findings in the Ministry and the Prosecutor's Office. During the eight years of the PiS government, prosecutors were at the mercy of the party. This is a big challenge for Minister Bodnar.
However, reconciliation cannot replace the fulfillment of other promises.
– We keep our promises. There are salary increases for teachers and the public sector, widow pensions, we are reinstating tariffs on some agricultural products from Ukraine, we are implementing the “East Shield” program, lifting the blockade of KPOs, and implementing investment programs. Construction of railways, CPK, nuclear power plants.
Doesn't looking at the data showing how the number of payday loan applications has increased during your reign raise any red flags?
– This is an issue that depends on many factors. One of them is high interest rates. The government's role is to take all possible measures to limit this phenomenon so that Poles do not have to take loans from parabanks. The minimum wage will rise from January. This problem cannot be solved overnight.
Do you agree with Deputy Shayna that payday loans drive the economy?
– I think it was the minister's ingenuity.
Afraid your campaign will be dominated by price issues?
– If PiS politicians talk about inflation, they should look at themselves in the mirror.
We are the most democratic of all political parties. There may be people who would like our community to field its own candidate. But you have to stay true to the political scenario. agreements must be kept
~ Miłosz Motyka
Will expensive butter ruin you?
– Expensive butter, it's not the government's fault, but it's a very complex issue, including the impact on the world's milk supply. PiS politicians have proven time and time again that they have nothing to do with the essence. PiS's lies will not go unchecked. We debunk these myths.
Empty refrigerators are already playing an important role in election campaigns.
– We will not be provoked by PiS. They need to know that their lies are short-lived. Poles will not be fooled by their tools.
Have you ever examined your conscience, what could go faster than reconciliation?
– We know where to speed up. Certainly a deregulation package for entrepreneurs and the judicial system. The communication layer also faces many challenges.
Who fails when it comes to communication?
– It doesn't mean anyone will fail. Information policy needs to be strengthened.
But there are certain people behind it. So someone will fail.
– Our voters themselves report that they need a concrete information campaign about what the government is doing.
What do you think about this coalition after a year?
And in two words, “bad”?
– no. This is a very complex coalition that combines different sensibilities after PiS materialized on the political scene. This is a mosaic coalition that requires negotiation, but many of the solutions we came to the election with as a third path have been implemented.
However, you did not always feel comfortable in this union. For example, we are talking about the issue of abortion.
– We often say that we guarantee that there will be no revolution in the worldview and that there will be no revolution in the worldview.
Szymon Horownia vividly showed that it is possible to overcome the Polish-Polish conflict. Polarization is increasing and will not end even if a PiS or PO candidate becomes president. That's what it's all about. Only Shimon Horonia can end the war between the tribes.
~ Miłosz Motyka
Does the Union have bad taste? You said the left is pushing you against the wall.
– Controversy on this point is natural. We have emphasized our views, and we think they reflect the majority's will to restore compromise on abortion. As part of our coalition agreement, we agreed to overturn the shameful verdict against Julia Przywebska, and we believe this should be achieved. We support finding a compromise. We don't want to give the impression that we're arguing.
That's not an impression, you argue.
– There are substantial differences in our programs, and that's to be expected. I believe there are more issues on which we agree than on which we disagree.
Do you agree with Stanisław Zelichowski that there are enemies, mortal enemies and coalition partners?
– This statement is mainly reflected in election campaigns, where everyone fights for their own interests.
So is this a period of emotional depletion within the coalition? Will there be a fierce battle?
– We have a tough but partnership-based relationship in the Coalition Government. We recognize that our enemies are anti-democratic parties like PiS. We maintain reasonable compromises in our coalition government.
Do your hands shake when you vote to support Shimon Horounia?
– My hands don't shake. We agreed on cooperation a long time ago, but at that time many people doubted whether this partnership was possible. When they say they won't cross the threshold. It is because of this alliance that we are able to govern today. Without the Third Way, there would have been a third term for PiS. This is the truth. There is only one candidate for president, which makes sense for the community that ran together. I think the majority of the PSL Supreme Council thinks the same way as me.
Marek Sawicki says Szymon Holownia is not a natural candidate for a completely subordinate party.
– Mr. Marek Savicki has declared that he will collect signatures for Mr. Szymon Horounia, and I hope that he will remain true to this declaration. We will be happy to assist you in printing the cards if needed.
So you're not afraid of the scenario getting out of control?
– We are the most democratic of all political parties. There may be people who would like our community to field its own candidate. But we have to stay true to the political scenario. Agreements must be kept.
In other words, is he a candidate for reason rather than heart?
– No, this is the most optimal scenario for Third Way to present a common candidate. So it's a heart-to-heart scenario.
I always say that we have a 130-year tradition. Wouldn't a party with such a tradition deserve a candidate who is a true farmer?
– Most of the time, the people who care most about our tradition are those who have little to do with it. Already during the parliamentary elections, we were threatened that this would be our last election as we were not running under our own flag. I am confident in our future.
Karol Nawrocki's support is currently lower than PiS's, but it cannot be underestimated. There are still 6 months left in the campaign. It's the era of politics
~ Miłosz Motyka
Are you worried that voters won't buy Shimon Horounia?
– i'm not afraid. The creation of Third Way was, among other things, a response to a voter proposal.
What can Shimon Horounia offer rural voters?
– Agency and the fact that today he really does not speak out loud about the problems of the Polish countryside, but is a representative of the environment solving them. We have resolved the issues related to the influx of grain from Ukraine, and thanks to Minister Siekielskiy's actions, the Green Deal is being changed.
You are talking about the activities of the PSL, and I am asking what Szymon Holownia of Poland 2050 has for local constituencies.
– The best. We work together as a third way, which makes Szymon Hołownia more reliable.
“I don't want to see a half-Polish president in a few months'' – do you agree with this statement by Szymon Holownia?
・I agree with the statement that Poland needs a president with a variety of sensibilities. If anyone can escape the trap of polarization, it is a candidate from a different environment than PiS or PO.
And wouldn't such a statement cause controversy within your camp?
– no. Szymon Horownia vividly showed that it is possible to overcome the Polish-Polish conflict. Polarization is increasing and will not end even if a PiS or PO candidate becomes president. That's what it's all about. Only Shimon Horonia can end the war between the tribes.
Rafał Trzaskowski declares he can do it too.
– It will certainly be more difficult for him to reconcile and unite the Poles than for Szymon Holownia, who is not from the faction in conflict with PiS.
What does Szymon Horonia have that Rafał Czaskowski doesn't?
– Szymon Hołownia guarantees 100% independence. He is his own boss and determines the direction of his actions. There is no chairman or president above him.
If Rafał Trczaskowski wins, this independence might not exist in the presidential palace?
– Rafał Trzaskowski is not the leader of the party, but his deputy. This is very suggestive. Simon Horounia is stronger in terms of independence because he is anointed by the PO.
However, Shimon Horounia will also be the party's official candidate. He could be accused of the exact same thing.
– But receiving support does not mean that he becomes someone's hostage.
Other candidates are saying the same thing.
– When it comes to his political positions, Shimon Horounia is certainly a person who is 100% independent from any leader. That's what sets him apart.
Will it cause problems for Rafał Trzaskowski if we start discussing the removal of the cross?
– Issues regarding religious symbols in public spaces will shape him as a more centre-left, left-wing candidate than a centrist candidate. And in Poland, centrist voters decide who becomes president.
Did Shimon Horounia reduce his chances with the Collegium Hunum incident?
– Szymon Hołownia has already explained this many times and, in our opinion, he has solved the problem. He did not break the law like Mr. Riserd C.
Who from PSL will join Simon Horounia's staff?
– Our natural candidate for one of the main staff positions is Deputy Marshal Pyotr Zgozelsky. If there is such a will, I will also join the work of the staff.
– No one can be underestimated, even people with low visibility and unclear connections with the criminal world. If his base is the people we hear about, their reputation is questionable. I don't know, but maybe Wielki BU or Olgierd L. will be the head of the presidential administration?
Speculation about connections with the criminal environment did not harm Karol Nawrocki. He is gaining support in opinion polls. Is this a concern to you?
– Support for Karol Nawrocki is currently lower than support for PiS, but it cannot be underestimated. There are still 6 months left in the campaign. It's a political era.
